Find the observer within you
This video introduces the concept of the neutral Witness, your objective observer—a simple yet powerful practice to find peace, balance and connection with your true Self.
There's a part of you that's always been watching. Calm. Quiet. Untouched by the noise. Have you met your Witness yet? This practice introduces you.
What it is:
The part of you that observes thoughts without becoming them.
What it gives:
Clarity, calm, and the ability to respond instead of react.
What it takes:
Practice. Like any muscle, it strengthens with use.
The video includes a guided visualization you can do right now—Close your eyes, take a breath, and dive in...
Most of us live tangled up in our thoughts, mistaking them for who we are. Witnessing doesn't ask you to stop thinking. It asks you to step back and see the thoughts for what they are—passing weather, not the sky. Do it daily, and the triggers begin to lessen. This is where your freedom lives.

What exactly is the Witness?
The Witness is the part of you that's already watching—the quiet, steady observer beneath the noise of thoughts, emotions and reactions. It's not something you have to build or become. It's something you already are. The practice just helps you recognize it and strengthen your connection to it.
Is Witnessing the same as Mindfulness or Meditation?
Close cousins, not identical. Meditation often asks you to focus on one thing—the breath, a mantra, a candle. Mindfulness trains you to bring attention to the present moment—the breath, the body, the senses. Witnessing goes a step further: it asks you to step back and observe the one who's observing. You're not just noticing the thought. You're noticing that you are not the thought.
Meditation and mindfulness practices and Witnessing are deeply compatible—many people find Witnessing feels like a natural deepening of them. Where MindYoga differs is what comes next. Witnessing is the foundation, but the three clearing practices—Polarities, Triangles and Squares—take you further. They actively clear the mental and emotional patterns that keep you stuck. Witnessing feeds the clearing; the clearing strengthens the Witness. Together, they form a complete system for freeing the mind and awakening the heart, not just watching the mind.
If you want to go deeper, MindYoga also offers a dedicated Witnessing course with guided practices and home exercises that build on these foundations. But everything you need to start is right here, free.
I tried it, and my mind wouldn’t stop racing. Did I fail?
No. A racing mind isn't a failed practice—it's what you're practicing with. The point isn't to stop the thoughts. The point is to notice them without climbing aboard. If you noticed your mind was racing, congratulations! You were Witnessing. That's the whole point.
Furthermore, most people report that the more they do the three MindYoga clearing practices (Polarities, Triangles and Squares), the quieter and calmer the mind becomes. So, you might give them a try.
How often should I practice Witnessing?
As often as you remember. The real practice isn't about sitting still for a set time—it's about remembering to step back into the Witness throughout your day. A few minutes here and there, whenever you catch yourself getting pulled into reactivity, will take you further than an hour once a week. It's about remembering to remember. Over time, what starts as a deliberate pause becomes your default way of being. The Witness stops being something you do and starts being where you live from.
When will I notice a difference?
Sooner than you think. Most people report a shift within the first week—a moment where they notice themselves about to react and find they have a choice they didn't have before. That gap between trigger and reaction is the first sign the practice is working. It only widens from there.
If you want to accelerate the path, combine Witnessing with the three clearing practices—Polarities, Triangles, and Squares. Together, they don't just help you watch the mind. They clear what's in the way, so you can awaken to your true Self and live more from the heart. Witnessing opens the door. The clearing practices reveal the pathway to it.
