The Squares Practice
The Squares practice is a technique for resolving unconscious blocks, clarifying decisions, and even healing the body—faster than you'd imagine. It stops the endless cycle of overthinking by making every perspective conscious, so the right path forward can reveal itself naturally.
Every decision sits between two poles—stay or leave, yes or no, this path or that one. But each pole has two faces: what you desire about it and what you fear. That’s four corners. Most of us only hear one or two of those voices. The rest go underground and run the show from the shadows. Squares pulls all four into the light, so nothing’s pulling strings you can’t see.
What it is:
A four-cornered inquiry into any decision or recurring polarity—naming what you desire and fear on both sides, so the unconscious becomes conscious.
What it gives:
Clarity without the mental spin cycle. Decisions that feel aligned rather than reactive—made from seeing the whole picture, not from just the one corner you’ve been stuck in. And the quiet confidence that comes from having looked at all of it.
What it takes:
Honesty with yourself. Some corners will be uncomfortable to fill. That’s not a sign to stop—it’s a sign you’re in the right place.
The video walks you through a full Squares practice—a real decision, worked in real time. You’ll see all four corners explored, the hidden fears and desires surfaced, and therelease that follows. By the end, you’ll know exactly how to set up your own Square whenever a decision has you spinning.
Overthinking isn’t a character flaw. It’s what happens when parts of you are speaking but not being heard. The Squares practice doesn’t ask you to think harder. It asks you to listen wider—to the desire you’ve been ignoring, the fear you’ve been suppressing, the voice you didn’t know was in the room. Do this regularly, and decisions stop feeling like crises. They become doorways. And the body heals alongside the mind—because so much of what we carry physically is just an unfelt feeling, finally given a place to land.

Is the Squares practice only for big decisions, or can I use it for small stuff too?
Both. Squares works on "should I leave my job?" and it works on "should I go to the party?" The practice doesn't care about the size of the decision—it cares about the charge. If something's looping in your mind, big or small, it's worth doing a Square. Sometimes the small decisions reveal the biggest patterns.
What if one of the corners is hard to fill?
That's normal—and often the most important corner. If you're staring at a blank page on "fear of leaving" or "desire to stay," something's probably buried there. Don't force it. Sit with the emptiness and let whatever's underneath surface in its own time. Even writing "I don't know what goes here" is a valid entry. The blankness itself is information.
If you're really stuck, try stepping into someone else's shoes—like an actor preparing for a role. Can't fathom why a tyrant desires domination? Pretend you're playing one. Pick the political leader of your choice. The point isn't to agree with the perspective. It's to access it. Your Square needs all four corners, not just the ones you're comfortable with.
Can I use Squares for more than decision-making?
Absolutely—and most people who stick with it do. Squares is introduced as a decision-making tool because decisions are a natural entry point. Everyone has them. Everyone gets stuck in them. It's an easy door to walk through.
But the deeper purpose of Squares is making the unconscious conscious. Once you're comfortable with the framework, you can use it on any recurring polarity—a relationship dynamic, a self-worth pattern, a creative block, a physical symptom. The decision is just the doorway. What's behind it is the real work: surfacing what's been running you from the shadows, and releasing it into the light.
Can I use Squares for physical healing?
Yes. Many students use Squares for body-related issues—chronic pain, tension patterns, unexplained symptoms. The process is the same: name the polarity (health/illness, ease/pain, mobility/restriction) and fill in all four corners. You'd be surprised what the body has been holding that the mind hasn't acknowledged. Making it conscious is often the first step toward release.
Can I use Squares for the same decision more than once?
Absolutely. Some decisions have layers. The first Square might clear the surface noise; the second goes deeper. You might also find that after a few days or weeks, new insights emerge that weren't available to you the first time. There's no rule against revisiting. Each pass reveals more.
What if the decision doesn't come during the practice?
It often doesn't—and that's fine. You've done the work. You've made the unconscious conscious. Now let your mind rest. The answer may arrive hours or days later, often when you're not thinking about it at all. Trust that. The practice set something in motion. Let it land.
Some people get good results by doing the offering and surrendering of the Square right before bed, setting the intention that the answer will be clear upon waking. "When I open my eyes in the morning, the first thought in my head will be the universe's response to the Square." Try it and see.
